You giggled at them in “The Trick“. You laughed uproariously at their antics in “The Legend of Guitar Hero” (well, some of you did!). Now The Golden Mole Players have created (with a little help from yours truly) the first in a series of episodes of “Wacky Time Theater” — check out “Episode 1: The Dangerous Game”! You may save a child’s life!

i am speechless. … i had no idea that the weeeee could inflict such horrors. there’s no telling just how great an impact this PSA could have on the children of america. thank you for your service!
i would also like to send you an iron so that the golden mole players can press their backdrops before going live on camera.
xoxo
jimsmuse sez: Always happy to help out the youth of America, CWG — I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think the person who got the biggest kick out of being in the video was my father Henri Barre, who took a few minutes out from his professional voice-acting work to lend his talents to the production at the very last minute.
I do promise you that the next installment of “Wacky Time Theater” will have much higher production values (as my brand new video camera is on the way via UPS even as I write this — woot!), and we may even iron the backdrop next time! (I honestly didn’t realize how wrinkled it was until it was too late. Sorry, OCD viewers!)

i THOUGHT that might be your daddy-o in the movie…but i didn’t want to seem tooooo stalkerish and notice it out loud. hahahah.
i noticed on your twitter that you just finished marley and me. i KNOW that you’re now going to read twilight, right?!?!? it’s all the rage. my students got me hooked. i’m in love with a fictional, 17-year-old vampire. someone help me. it’s very sad.
another teacher and i got into a twilight rumble at school today. the kids were going NUTS. the other teacher said the book was awful…and i told her that she was too old and out of touch. mayhem ensued.
i’m not saying the series is literature at its finest…but it does tap into the whole ‘temptation’ and ‘can’t have what you want’ thing. it’s a quick read. want me to send it to you? i have a spare copy…loser that i am.
jimsmuse sez: I am such a voracious reader that I never turn down a free book, especially if all the cool kids are reading it! (And you are more than welcome to my copy of “Marley and Me” in return. It’s beautifully written.) Send away! I doubt that Edward the vampire will take the place in my fantasy life of J.D. Robb’s Roarke the sexy billionaire (and since J.D. Robb is really Nora Roberts, you’ll realize the competition is stiff), but I’m willing to give him a try!
As for your “stalkerish” tendencies: since you have available to you my name, my picture and my address (where you are welcome to stop by and iron my sheets anytime you like) — I mostly think your sleuthing is kind of cute. Considering that my father has done a lot of local (you know, like right near your hometown?) performing both amateur and professional, and is fairly well known in the area, I don’t think he’s all that worried about you stalking him either. Might want to watch out for Mom, though…

Acting is definitely in your family genes! The kids were great and your dad – well, you can tell he’s a professional. What a wonderful voice.
SO. why are YOU never on the other side of the camera Carrie??
PS: Congrats on your new camera. Looking forward to many new shorts.
jimsmuse sez: You should have seen us back in the day 20+ years ago, when the local community theater group did a children’s participation version of “The Wizard of Oz” directed by my mother and featuring my younger sister as Dorothy, myself as the Wicked Witch of the West and my father as the Cowardly Lion. Those were the days!

she’s camera shy…just like me.
jimsmuse sez: I like to think of you and me as being “camera SLY”…it sounds so much cooler, don’t you think?

Gee Carrie I don’t know what to say! I could have used your help this weekend entertaining my grandchildren…they exhausted the heck out of me!!! As usual, you always entertain!
P.S. I have read the entire “Twilight” series, stood in line (for something new, fun and different) for the final book with 100’s of screaming teenagers. It was a hoot!
CWG: a bunch of my friends had buttons made up that said, “Oh darn, I’m too old for Edward”
jimsmuse sez: Yes, they do exhaust the heck out of me, but I find being creative with the kids and encouraging them to be creative is totally worth it. I’m certainly not a perfect parent (or a perfect Auntie Carrie), but I find that the more we all do stuff together the more fun we all have! I learn as much from them as they do from me (especially about silly videos and computers – the kids are the experts, not me!)

Cool that kids still use their imagination for entertainment. I thought kids spent all their time either in front of the TV or the game console. Nice to see I was wrong!
Your dad DOES have a very nice voice!
jimsmuse sez: Yes, nathalie, they do spend a lot of time doing that stuff too, but I’m glad I found something we can all do that requires some imagination!
If you are interested in hearing more of the mellifluous tones of Henri Barre, his most recent project has involved doing the English dubbing for the Turkish television dramas “Cold February” and “The Teacher” — you can see full streaming episodes of both at Ebru TV. (Note: I do not have a list of all the character voices she plays, but my mother has also been working on the same programs: yes, I certainly do come from a performing family!)
