In this week’s Star Ledger, I think, was a pumpkin almost exactly like your pumpkin eating another pumpkin – it must have been the spontaneous inspriation of the year.

jimsmuse sez: I don’t know that it was a particularly original idea, but I do know that my pumpkins this year were far more elaborate than I’ve ever done. Now that I have the bug, I expect next year I’ll be completely out of control!

I think your kids are related to my kids!!! I tortured my husband with Martha Stewart last night and she had all these awesome pumpkin carving ideas…she obviously copied your “celebrity” pumpkin idea.

jimsmuse sez: Martha is fabulous when it comes to setting tables and wrapping presents, but I’ll take her on in a one-on-one pumpkin “carve off” any day of the week. She is nothing without her zillions of minions…(insert witchy cackle here!)

you are totally the BEST pumpkin carver this side of the mississip! seriously! even attempting a ‘replica’ nat-o-lantern is impressive–the fact that my MOM recognized the pumpkin as ME is even more telling of your mad skillz.

i’m so excited that i’ve been carved into infamy. don’t mind my snappy-ness. i’m only salty because i had to go back to WORK this week. oh, the humanity.

jimsmuse sez: Aw, shucks! I’m blushing! Now go find me that jackass-o-lantern WEST of the Mississippi because the pumpkin battle is on! I really don’t know what came over mer: I’ve carved a pumpkin or two in my day, but this year I was truly inspired — and it must run in the family, because I didn’t even touch the “dumpkin” or the “pumpkin needs pepto”: those kids did it all on their own and I’m so proud! (Okay, so I did have a little more input into six year old Maggie’s pumpkin, but I expect she’ll be a master carver in a few years as well!)

I thank you very much for being my “guinea pig” (and a good sport about it) because I figured out a lot of things about extreme pumpkin carving from doing your portrait. I think it’s awesome that your Mom recognized you! (Hm…did she have an affair with Michael Jackson at some distant point in the past, perhaps?)

Sorry about that work thing…it must really cut into your internet time!

can i admit something here…when i first saw the ‘celeb’ pumpkin BEFORE you super-imposed my picture on it and then lit it…i thought it was michael jackson. lol. seriously.

for the record, i don’t look like m. jackson. except for the ‘white’ part.

a) Since my rendering was apparently not as perfect as I wished (although you really have to give me credit for trying!), I’m glad you made dishy the judge of the contest; and

b) It isn’t my fault that you look like Michael Jackson. Maybe if you took off the white glove and the sequined tube socks people wouldn’t get so confused!

OKAY – As official JUDGE of this contest (which I thought was a joke but apparently was not.) I have to say

WELL DONE CARRIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!

The first pumpkin eating the little guy – too cute. And I cannot believe you carved Curly into the second. Quelle artiste!

The dumper was great. The barfer was great. The vampire terrific. All A+

I have not yet seen any of the other entries. But the fact that you carved multiple pumpkins AND made a video tribute. WELL> Let’s just say I don’t need to say ANY MORE.

BUT Hayden – you must know something I ( – as JUDGE – ) do not. Is Chris entering YOUR CHEST??!! WOWZA!!! Sorry Carrie – it may be too late.

jimsmuse sez: THANK YOU! I am glad that someone finally agrees with me that the dumpkin is awesome! It is only after reading your comment that I realize that although my kid was a little wacky with the “dumpkin”….he could easily have reinterpreted the cloven back of that pumpkin and made a “boob-o-lantern” instead. LMAO That would have still been funny…but perhaps a little more difficult for me to deal with!
